Please reach out to politely state your position on the City’s contracts with Flock and ALPR surveillance. The City cannot take our concerns into account if we don’t express them.
Sign the petition - make your voice heard.
Do add your signature to the petition. This helps City leadership understand how many of their constituents and neighbors who transit through Carrollton are impacted by and interested in removing ALPR surveillance from our city.
Talk to your friends, family, and neighbors.
Because the City has not been forthright about these contracts, most people don’t know what these cameras do - if they’ve even noticed them.
Every citizen of Carrollton has an interest in this issue, regardless of political affiliation. It is simply too risky to share all our daily activities with such a wide range of users via such a hackable system. It puts us at risk, it puts our kids’ safety at risk, it puts our home security, our data privacy, and more at risk - and no one in Carrollton had the chance to vote on Flock at all.
Attend City Council meetings to share your concerns.
Meetings take place every other Tuesday beginning at 5:45 PM. The next one is on 6/22.
We’re working to get Flock cameras and contracts on the agenda for a public hearing. We are coordinating a mass effort to speak at City Council, final date is TBD but expect an update soon.
Should you feel moved to attend and speak in advance of the public hearing, please do make sure you request that the City hold a public hearing on the matter!
